I managed to PUG my way through Challenge Mode Golds in just 3 days. Whew! That was tough, but also fun, and now I have those sweet, sweet transmogs.
It’s been a good week and a great weekend.Lots of projects completed or making good progress. I’ve been working hard to shore up my mount and pet collections.
I’ve been soloing old Cata 25H raids to earn some extra gold. I’ve been using this to buy up vendor mounts and reagents for crafted mounts.
On that front, I’ve been grinding out the seals to purchase the mounts from the Argent Tournament. At this point, I’ve gotten 6/9 mounts, including both flyers, and should have the remaining 3 by the end of the week. Huzzah!
I’ve gotten some great new pets, thanks mostly to my awesome sister. I intend to work on finishing off the leveling process for all of my battle pets during the next pet bonus XP event.
I ran a couple toons through some timewalking dungeons and purchased my first vendor mount. I’ve also purchased a couple of the toys. I now have the tokens available to purchase the other vendor mount as soon as the next event rolls around. I still haven’t gotten lucky on the Timereaver drop. So frustrating.
I made quite a bit of progress on leveling up some lowbie pairs with my sister. Between leveling those pairs and running timewalking dungeons together, we’ve been having a blast.
I got to know George and Tarii a bit better as we ran some heroics and timewalking dungeons together. I hadn’t really tanked yet in WoD so it was fun seeing the dungeons from a new perspective. My sister and I had a great time and all of the runs were awesome.
Finally making some progress on that old Shadowmourne quest that’s been in my poor pally’s quest log since Wrath. Toys and mounts, here I come.
Just in case you somehow missed it, Blizzard announced the official release date for Legion: August 30, 2016. Wowhead has made a lovely guide highlighting things to get done before it drops.
With that out of the way, I am highly skeptical about this release date. We are now 4-1/2 months away from this release date (4 months from the pre-patch) and we are still in a partially-complete Alpha. How are we going to have time to finish the Alpha, do a beta, and do a PTR? Maybe they can pull it off, but I fear that we’re in for a rushed, truncated, and buggy expansion release. History certainly suggests we will be. Here’s hoping that Blizzard can surprise me in a pleasant way. I’m more than a little sick of being surprised that Blizzard finds a way to wriggle under the bar no matter how low I set my standards.
Oh, yeah, I almost forgot…
We went into SMBG on a mission: to kick butts and take names. We may have been too busy kicking butts to worry about the names. This was the only remaining challenge mode that had me at all worried, because it gave us so much trouble with the last group. Man, what a different experience this was. I won’t say it was a completely clean run, but we zipped through with a minimal of trouble. Between a different composition, a different route, and picking up a few new tricks (not to mention good old fashioned experience) we really did a very nice job in our final week.
Congratulations and well done, Angels. Great work. It was a lot of work and a lot of frustration, but mostly a lot of fun.
Here’s the official “All 5 of Us” screenshot to commemorate the occasion:
I have now officially finished the Proving Grounds Project on Silver and Gold. Whew, what a long haul this has been. I feel like I deserve an achievement or 2 for that. Or maybe even a title. Playing on the lines of the “Proven Defender,” “Proven Assailant,” and “Proven Defender,” I think I should get simply “The Proven.”
I’m closing in on finishing the Proving Grounds Project. I have only
5 2 specs left to go and I’m working on gathering the little bit of gear I need. I hope to finish soon.
*UPDATE* Another one bites the dust.
Week 3 in UBRS was a long time in coming. It was good to finally have a full night working at it. We made good use of our time.
Things to take away:
- This was our first full night. Both of our previous nights were shortened by technical difficulties.
- We finished! Twice. This is a HUGE step in the right direction. Good work.
- We’re starting to get down the Zaela fight. Almost there.
- We’re 6:10 from Silver. That’s roughly 1 wipe.
Changes we can make:
- We need to tighten up on the beginning of the instance. We’ve done it before, so I know we can do it again. There was probably some rust because of our extended absence.
- Things we should be sure to hit:
- Switch to banners in the first hall.
- Stuns/interrupts throughout.
- We need to make better use of potions. If you pre-pot before each trash pull, it should be available before the next pull on most/all pulls. At the very least we should be able to pot every-other pull.
- We should also be double-potting on bosses. Potions are a huge boost at the scaled-down gear level, so high uptime on the buff helps immensely. I’ve sent everyone a “gift package” of potions to help out with the cost of this.
Bottom Line: we need to play (slightly) better, not faster. If we buckle down and play cleanly we’ll serve ourselves better than trying to rush. We’re right there, I think we can turn the corner next week. As always, good job, and I’m proud of this group. See you next week.
